Mary Cecilia Jones

Mary Cecilia Jones, 85, of Columbus, died at 5:50 p.m., Tuesday Dec. 30, 2014, at her home. Born in Swindon, England, Mary was the daughter of William and Isabella Margaret Holman Bryant. She married Philip Edward Jones in 1955 in Swindon. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1998. Mary and Philip moved to Columbus in 1967 where she became a volunteer for Hospice and was a member of Cosmopolitan. Mary enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, needle point, traveling and cruise boating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday Jan. 5, 2015 with a celebration of Mary’s life lead by Dr. David Elwood at 5 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th St., Columbus. A reception will follow at Mary’s home. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Mary may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association. Online tributes may be sent to Mary’s family at www.myers-reed.com. Mary is survived by her children, Mark (Tami) Jones, Osgood, Stephen (Nora) Jones, Cleveland, OH and Lesley Jones, Columbus. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Phyllis Abbott of England.
