Mary Eloise Jordan, 89, of Chapa Drive, died at 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mrs. Jordan attended New Castle Business College and graduated from Butler University, with a degree in psychology. She retired in 1980 as supervisor of the Child Welfare Division of Bartholomew County Department of Social Services.
She was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Genet C. Soule and Dr. Jan Guffin officiating. Burial will be at Richland Cemetery east of Milroy.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Rush County July 24, 1922, the daughter of Glen and Ethelyn Mercer Guffin. She married John W. Jordan June 7, 1948, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death June 19, 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila L. (Dale) Fear of Columbus; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Ian) Ferries of Indianapolis and Benjamin Bradley of Bloomington; a sister, Martha Lucille Guffin; two nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Charles H. and James Lowell Guffin; and a sister, Doris Louise Newland.
