Mary Dell Vinson Woon, 82, of Pearl Street , died at 11 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Woon was born on June, 17 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of James and Hazel Kuehnle Vinson. She married Delbert John Woon in Michigan on August 31, 1957.
Mary worked as a home health care aid for many years. She enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, creating driftwood craft items, baking Christmas cookies and spending time with family and friends at the lake cottage on Eagle Harbor Lake in Michigan. Mary had a place in her heart for dogs and truly loved her faithful friend Sammy.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Columbus, where she was a very active member of the ALPHA Outreach Ministries. Mary was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her sons, David Evan Woon of Champaign, Ill and Peter V. (Gabrielle) Woon of Columbus; a sister, Nancy (Larry) Pawlaczyk of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, Edwin (Ruth) Vinson of Sheboygan, Mich.; and grandchildren, Michael (Krista) Woon of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Dellamarie and Bernard Woon of Columbus. She is also survived by her faithful friend, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1964; and a brother, John Vinson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Cal ling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street and from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. George Cemetery in Flat Rock, Indiana.
