He was born March 5, 1978, in Columbus, the son of Norman Edward and Mary Louise (Jessie) Starks, who preceded him in death.
Norman spent many years working for Jimmy John’s, serving in several locations including Columbus, Lexington, Kentucky, and Bloomington, Indiana. He also worked at McDonald’s on 3rd Street in Bloomington, where he was known for his easy smile and upbeat spirit.
Norman loved to sing and dance and never missed a chance to make others laugh. He had a creative side that came through in his crafts and his cooking, and he poured love and care into everything he made.
He is survived by his son, Norman A. Starks Jr.; sisters, Regina Fulkerson and her companion, Tony Laskey, of Jeffersonville, and Tonya Starks and her companion, Billy Harvey, of Columbus; his “brother and best friend,” Mark Solomon; “adopted brother,” Kevin Groover of Columbus; favorite niece, Tamica Seniours of Columbus; nieces Shavona Jones of Georgetown, Kentucky and Michele Fulkerson of Jeffersonville; and his cousins and “homies,” David Starks and Nathan Dean, both of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Ford; ex-wife, Janet Starks; and sister, Pamela Sue Gilbertson.
A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be announced at a later date. Those who knew him will remember his laughter, his energy, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
