Peggy Lou (Pelley) Posey, a cherished and kind-hearted individual, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on August 23, 1938, in Dunnville, KY, Peggy was a beloved resident of Scipio.
Peggy's career began in a sewing factory, and she later worked in shipping and receiving at Vernco and Nagakura Engineering. She retired in September 2019 at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
On August 12, 1955, Peggy married Robert Emitt Posey, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years until his passing in 1996. Peggy's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her sons, Robert Lynn Posey (Debbie) of Reddington, and Doyle Dean Posey of Scipio. Her granddaughters, Crystal Lucas (Darin), Dena Johnson (Jason), and Heather Posey (Adam Freyn) all of Columbus, and April Lyle (Cameron), of Bedford, held a special place in her heart. Peggy was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Kelsay Moore (Dayton), Cloey Abner, Bryce Abner (Narissa), Jason Shuey (Riley), Kiptyn and Mavys Johnson, Connor and Cooper Posey, Jackson Freyn, and Vada and Mabel Lyle; and great-great grandchildren, Emmalynn, Waylon, and Wrenley Moore, and Iris Abner. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Sue Scott, of Columbus, and her brother, Mitch Pelley (Clara), of Danville, KY. Peggy also treasured her nieces and nephews, whom she adored deeply.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lemuel "Jay" Pelley.
Peggy had a passion for cooking and baking and was renowned as the best fudge maker around. She enjoyed reading love stories and had a unique fondness for watching her "Boogie Woogs," or scary movies, with a bowl of popcorn and iced Pepsi. Crocheting was another hobby she loved, creating gifts for everyone dear to her.
Visitation will be held on November 21, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Myers - Reed Chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Eli Johnson officiating. Peggy will be laid to rest by her loving husband at Oak Grove Cemetery in Scipio.
Memorials in Peggy's name may be made to the Humane Society of your choosing or the Salvation Army, honoring Peggy's generous spirit and love for all.
Peggy's warm presence and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
