Richard Lee Bray, 79, of Columbus passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at his home.
Richard was born in Columbus October 3, 1941, the son of Donald and Charlotte Snyder Bray. He married Judith Morgan June 1960 at the East Columbus United Methodist Church; she survives.
He was a toolmaker for Cummins Engine Company from 1960 until his retirement in 2001. He was a former member of the East Columbus volunteer fire department and served as chief for five years. He enjoyed working with computers and worked with the Historical Society scanning in year books.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Bray of Columbus; sons, Don Bray of Bedford and Rodney (Lauri) Bray of Keller, Texas; grandchildren, Sarah Ruble of Hope and Katy Bray of Clinton, IN; great grandchildren, Lexin and Beylin Ruble and Bane Schroeder all of Hope.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Bray.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Al White officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com. In keeping with CDC and Indiana guidelines, social distancing must be followed and masks are required. You may also be asked to wait outside due to the social distanced capacity of the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
