

A Memorial Mass of C h r i s t i a n Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Fr. Clem Davis officiating. A luncheon will follow.
In keeping will Doug’s wishes, cremation is planned.

He was born in Ironwood, Mich., June 27, 1925. He married Jeannette Nolan on May 11, 1994 in Roanoke, Virginia. She survives.
He graduated from the University of Michigan and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and reading great novels. He enjoyed international travel, visiting many different countries with his wife, Jeannette. He also volunteered at St. Bartholomew, making and serving meals for the needy; he had been a member of the church for the past 19 years.
He worked in the retail industry for over 35 years; he was a buyer and department head for Dayton’s in Detroit and a former employee of R.G. Barry Co. in New York City. He retired in 1983.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Westlake of Hilo, Hawaii; a son, Michael Westlake of Miami, Fla.; step-children, John (Sharon) Nolan III of Eden Prairie, Minn., Dianne N. (Richard) Dickson of Mandeville, La., Janice M. Blanchard of Shelbyville, and Mary Liz (Thomas) Hyer of Grovetown, Ga.; and grandchildren, Collin Westlake of Seattle, Wash., and Katie (John) Westlake of Strohbehn, Hawaii; 22 step-grandchildren and 24 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sampson Robert Westlake; and his mother, Margaret Jane Caddy Westlake.
