Roberta Jean Irwin

Roberta was born 5-15-39 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Robert W. and Edna Pauline Harris Pollitt. She married Benjamin Richard “Dick” Irwin on 1-24-60 in Columbus. He preceded her in death on 3-26-16.

A ’57 graduate of Columbus North High High School, Roberta was a member of First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Church Choir. She also performed with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. On 6-26-06, Roberta joined the D. A. R.; Daughters of the American Revolution Joseph W. Hart Chapter and held the offices of the Joseph W. Hart Chapter Media and Public Relations from 08-16 and the Joseph W. Hart Chapter Press Book 08-09. She was also a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Over her lifetime, Roberta had worked as a Pharmacist Assistant at Parker’s Drug Store.

Robert is survived by her mother, Edna Pauline Harris Pollitt, Columbus; children, Benjamin Howard (Sherri Anderson) Irwin, Edmonds, WA, William Edwin Irwin, Columbus and Amy Lynne (Robert Alan) Sharp, Highpoint, NC; brother, Richard (Mary Ellen) Pollitt, Petersville and grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Irwin, Edmonds, WA. Preceding her in death were her father; brothers, Roger Dale and Robert W. Pollitt and her husband.

The funeral service for Roberta will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday 8-18-16 at Hathaway –Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to the service. There will be a memorial service by the members of the Joseph W. Hart Chapter of the D. A. R just prior to the funeral. Entombment will be in Garland Brook Mausoleum.
