Terry Joe Taylor

Terry was born January 24, 1950, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Robert and Olive (Wright) Taylor.

He married Stephanie Hendricks on July 31, 1999.

Terry was raised in the Columbus First Baptist Church. He recently became a member of the Edinburgh United Methodist Church.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1968 and from Indiana University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He was a member of the Columbus Elks Lodge and a former member of Jaycees, where he had served as president and as an Ambassador to Jamaica.

Terry had worked for Cardinal Vending Services, 7K Farms, Jim Gordon Inc., and had been at Lowe’s in Columbus for 15 years.

He enjoyed woodworking and golfing at Timbergate Golf Course, where he tied for the Senior Championship this past summer. Terry was an avid IU Basketball fan.

Terry is survived by his wife Stephanie of Edinburgh; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lila Ritz of Winter Haven, Florida; his sister and brother-in-law Gaynell and Randy Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Paul Meilinger of Erie, Colorado; nieces, Jill (Craig) Ward of Pittsburg, Kansas; Shannon Ritz of Bloomington, Indiana and Ashton Meilinger of Erie, Colorado; nephews Ryan (Jennifer) Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Michael Meilinger of Erie, Colorado; great niece and nephews Mary, Joe, and Sam Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Zack and Dylan Ward of Pittsburg, Kansas. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Shirley Hendricks of Terre Haute, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Fred Hendricks.

The funeral will be at Tuesday 11-15-16 at 11:00 a. m. at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th Street, Columbus with Pastor Sean Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p. m. Monday and one hour before the services Tuesday.
