Adele H O'Brien

Del passed away into eternal life at age 93 peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 21, 2019. She was born to Miles Thomas Callahan and Margaret Crowe Callahan on July 25, 1925 in Shawnee, Ohio. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1943. She married John J. O'Brien, the love of her life, in 1947 after his return from the Navy in World War II and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before he passed away in 2001. After her family had been raised she worked for the Kroger Stores (Northern Lights) until retirement. Del was preceded in death by her brothers Paul Callahan and Francis Callahan, and her sisters Mary Evelyn Queen, Margaret Mitchell, Catherine Ruth Hatem, and Patricia Cummings. She is survived by her children Ron O'Brien (Susan) of Columbus, Kathleen O'Brien of Westerville, Joyce O'Brien of Circleville and Mary O'Brien of Columbus. Also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren Katie O'Brien and John O'Brien of Columbus, and Megan O'Brien of New York City, as well as many nieces and nephews. Del was proud of her Irish Catholic heritage and her roots in Shawnee, Perry County, Ohio. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, best mother and grandmother ever, and was viewed as a genuine and caring person by everyone who met her. Family will receive friends on Thursday January 24, 2019 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229, with visitation from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was a founding member, 1300 Urban Dr, Columbus, OH 43229 on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:00 am. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery following the Mass. Memorial Contributions could be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or to the Alzheimers Assn, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
