Adina "Irene" Sunseri

Adina (“Irene”) Rose Sunseri passed away peacefully in her home during the early hours of Sunday December 11, 2011. Adina was born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1919 in Windber, Pennsylvania to Angela DiPrimio and Palmiero DiClementi. She recently celebrated her 92nd birthday surrounded by family who loved her more than anything. In 1982, Adina was preceded in death by her husband Onofrio “Fred” Sunseri who also passed away during the holiday season. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Albert, Rinaldo and Paul DiClementi and two sisters Ida (DiClementi) Spadone and Jeanne (DiClementi) Garland. She is survived by two loving daughters, Sondra (Sunseri) Shelton and Annette (Sunseri) Marchetti; doting son-in-law Bill Marchetti; three adoring grandchildren, Jason Shelton, Dana Shelton and Alexandra Marchetti; two precious great-granddaughters Anna DiClementi Shelton and Cleo Jane Shelton and granddaughter-in-law Amy Shimer Shelton. Adina lived the majority of her life in the cities of Windber and Jeannette, Pennsylvania. In 1986, she moved to Westerville, Ohio to be close to her daughters and play an active role in raising her grandchildren. Her family will miss opening the door to her house, hearing her say “hi ya” and seeing her there, well-dressed in beige, sitting in her favorite chair, beloved dog Murphy at her feet with the aroma of spaghetti sauce cooking on the stove. Adina was the mother who was always there; the grandmother who clutched your hand and ran beside you as you were learning to roller skate and helped you to build a go-kart in her cellar and the matriarch of the family who, by her own actions, taught you what is most important in life. She was selfless, nurturing, kind-hearted and proud. To her family, Adina was the definition of “home.” The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 14, 2011 at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 504 Cowan Ave., Jeannette, PA, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.
