Alan H. Stinson, age 85, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He will always be remembered for his love of hard work-a man that hated unemployment and was always found working and serving. He began work in 1952 on the New York Central Railroad and in 1960, he brought his skills to Ford Motor Company and then to Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corporation where he built steam engines and other heavy equipment. He then focused again on his talents in welding and mechanics, making jet airplane blades at Excello, managing a Montgomery Ward auto center, doing extensive work on automobile suspension systems at Tom Ahl Chrysler-Plymouth-Buick, finishing his career at National Tire and Battery. Beyond work, Alan had a passion for building and racing cars, winning races across the country, including the indoor championship in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a member of the Upper Arlington Senior Center and expressed gratitude for the great friendships there. He was also a member of the OSU Stroke Support Group for over 15 years, often giving rides and encouragement to other members. He especially thanked Dr. Wanda McEntyre for her selfless service in running that group. He is preceded in death by his wife of 22 wonderful years, Gale, before she passed way in December 2016, his father, Ralph Stinson, his mother, Dorothy Stinson, his brother, Phillip Stinson, and his sister, Phyllis Mech.
