Marie was born at home in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Alice and Asa Moore Sr. She spent her formative years in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she attended Central High School and was active in the Glee Club and choir, volunteered at the Administrative Office and was a teaching assistant. At the age of 15, Marie met the love of her life, James “Jim” Stout, at a Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church ice cream social. From that day forward, Jim and Marie were inseparable, sharing 72 years of partnership and more than 69 years of marriage.
Marie followed Jim through many moves dictated by his sales and management responsibilities, resulting in thirteen relocations over the first fifteen years of their marriage. Eventually, the Stout family settled in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Marie was a devoted mother while Jim focused on his career at M. Aron Corporation. Jim and Marie purchased American Electric Motor Service in Columbus, Ohio, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 78. Employees and customers often referred to her as the “Motor Lady” and told her she looked no more than 60 years old.
Along with her husband and children, Marie was a parishioner at Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 50 years participating in many faith related studies, fundraising activities with TWIG (Together Wondering In God), and frequently preparing lunches and dinners in the fellowship hall. For many years, she was an active member of the Olympia DeMolay and Job’s Daughters Mother’s Clubs.
Marie will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who loved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim (2025), her parents, Asa B. Sr. (1983) and Alice M. (Creager) Moore (1994), as well as her brothers, James P. (1999), Asa B. Jr. (2009), and W.C. (2022).
She is survived by her children: Debbie (Bryan) Wodaski, James "Bill" (Cindy) Stout, Sharon (Sam) Weaver, and Pam (Michael) Hillman; her eight grandchildren: Allison (Ryan) Natale, Kim (Julie) Wodaski, Alex (Ashley) Wodaski, Erika (Randy) Kukral, Cayla (Ron) Parkman, Shannon (Marcus) Mallett, Nick Weaver, and Caitlin Weaver (Justin) Wildemann; and six great-grandchildren: Henley Richards, Michael Mallett, Emmie Mallett, Connor Natale, Teddy Natale, and Ella Wodaski.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Schoedinger Northwest (1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221) on August 9, 2025, with visitation hours from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Kobacker House.
Marie’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
