

Alma Virginia (Cook) Marcum, age 71, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010. She was born in Columbus on July 14, 1938, and she attended Full Gospel Sons of God Church. Alma had very strong faith and loved her church. She also enjoyed playing piano and working on puzzles. She liked to cook, and she collected angels and stuffed animals. She also enjoyed hunting, riding her 4-wheeler, and feeding the birds. Alma had a kind heart, and she loved everybody. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Shirley Leo Cook; second husband, Sammie Marcum; parents, Lewis White and Alice Shiflett; and grandmother, Emma Jean Byas. She is survived by her children, Allen (Rita) Cook, Kermit Cook, Keith (Tammy) Cook, Christine Fraley, and Darlene (Richard) Rodgers; siblings, Lois, Rocky, Phyllis, Juanita, Gloria, Dale, and Roger; step-children, Kay Penn, Louise (Bill) Lewis, and Sammie Marcum, Jr.; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Pastors Richard and Michael Harding officiating. Interment will follow at Mifflin Cemetery.
