

Elizabeth Ann Sparks Bell Malta. A lovely woman. Born in Melcroft Pennsylvania on November 24, 1928. Died at home Sunday, July 1, 2012. Daughter of Edward and Hildagail Sparks. She graduated from Connellsville High School in PA and Otterbein College with degrees in music and sociology. She worked for the PA. Agency for the Blind. She married Llewellyn Bell and moved to Ohio. While a stay at home mom, she gave piano lessons and baked bread to sell to the neighbors. Once her daughters started school, she worked for the State Hospital in Columbus and attended The Ohio State University, where she received her Master’s degree in social work. Ann worked for Northwest Area Guidance Center for several years as a counselor and was a liaison with the school systems in the area. She later worked at Harding Hospital and helped to establish the adolescent unit there. Ann married James Malta in 1976. He always said she was his angel. In 1983, she went into private practice specializing in individual and family counseling. She loved life. Her passion was people. Ann was a great listener with a lot of wisdom. She will be truly missed and never forgotten. Survived by sister, Sarahjane Wood; daughters, Luanne (Rodney) Skinner, Denise (Mike) Riggs, Nancy (John) Wagner and Amy (Brian) Sexton; grandchildren, David Skinner, Keely Odum, Inessa and Ben Wagner, Todd (Tara) Riggs, Chad Riggs, Joe Riggs, Tim (Charmae) Riggs, Trent Riggs, Rita Riggs and Connie Givens; great-grandchildren, Dresden, Camden, Brenen, Leigha, Emily, Maddalyn, Amelia, Dawson, Bailey, Cassie and Colton; many cousins, wonderful neighbors and treasured friends. Ann was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, served as a deacon and on several committees of the church. Our family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Lakshmi Seshadri and her staff, as well as the Mt. Carmel Hospice Team, especially Chris and Judy, for all of their incredible care and compassion! A Celebration of Ann’s Life will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 222 Schoolhouse Lane, Columbus, OH 43228. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2- 3 p.m. Sunday. Bob Moore officiating.
