Anne Slemmons Schluep passed away on August 2, 2016 at the age of 78 after a brief illness. Always one to avoid the spotlight and kind to a fault, Anne spent her life doing what made her happy-making the world a better place for others.
During her childhood on a farm in Delaware, Ohio, Anne developed a lifetime passion of helping animals at a very young age. She raised pigs, airedales, and ducks, and took care of them in her warm and nurturing way. As an adult, she fed and cared for many beloved cats, dogs and wild animals. Anne was a steward to all of God's creatures.
She pursued degrees in Home Economics and Education, and shared her loving heart with children as a preschool and Sunday school teacher at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, and later as a second grade teacher at Richard Avenue Elementary School. To Anne, teaching was never merely a profession, but always her passion.
Of her many talents, Anne's greatest was that of mother and grandmother. Through her never ending desire to create memorable childhoods, she baked cookies and pies, sewed costumes for school plays and Halloween on a moment's notice, and worked tirelessly to make everyone's wishes come true. She always had a smile to give and offered the best hugs anyone could imagine. Later in life when she happily assumed the role of Nana, Anne showered her grandchildren with the same unmatched kindness and love.
Anne will be missed dearly by everyone fortunate enough to have met her, but particularly by her husband, Martin Schluep, her brother, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of her life will take place on August 28, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. Visitation from 1-2:00 p.m. with a service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026 or by going to www.cahs-pets.org.
