Antonio A Garabís

Antonio received degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and The Ohio State University. He retired from OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital after a 33 year career in the Pathology Laboratory.

A true Renaissance man, Antonio was interested in and excelled at all things creative. He was an avid gardener, talented designer and excellent cook. Antonio won awards for his pottery, floral designs and photography. He traveled the world, loved the theater and music of all kinds. Antonio participated in Vaud-Villities for 25 years and made many costumes for the show. Antonio sang at many weddings, including his own, often accompanied by his wife Winnie on piano.

Antonio was a member of the Central Ohio Hosta Society, Metropolitan Columbus Daylily Society, Serendipity Garden Club and Ikebana International. Antonio was on the Board of Garden Club of Ohio and was a National Garden Club Accredited Master Flower Show Judge.

Antonio loved his family, friends and pets with a passion. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Winifred, brother José M. Garabís, nieces and nephews and their families: Dr. Francisco (Carrie) Garabís, Andres Garabís, Maria (Chris) Davis, Ana (T.J.) Wichmann, Elena (Christian) Dubas, Dr. Rafael (Lauren) Garabís, Miguel Garabís, Lucia (Luke) Perez, Antonio Garabís, José R. (Erik Carandang) Garabís, Ricardo Garabís, mother-in-law Hope Morrow, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Stephanie and Steve Hanood and special friend Greg Abraham.

Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Francisco and Maureen Garabís, sister-in-law Clary Garabís and father-in-law David Morrow.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Monday, October 23, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Rd, followed by a reception in their parish hall. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M.
