Art-Art the Old Fart
Aka Arthur N. Kidd
A long time South-Western City Schools employee, Arthur Neil Kidd of Columbus, Ohio, originally from Belmont County, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at Doctors West Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ethel Kidd, and his four brothers Don, Tom, Jim, and Jesse.
Arthur was a stubborn, funny, strong man who loved a good laugh. Accordingly:
After years of scrubbing the toilets and scraping the gum off the tables at Pleasant View Middle School and then Franklin Heights High School, Art moved on to work for the Maintenance Department at South-Western City Schools, you know… when the atrocious things teenagers can do finally blew up the plumbing and they had to call in the specialists. He retired from the district in 2000. He has spent his retirement telling corny jokes, probably the same one, over and over again and driving his neighbors crazy by watching Nascar too loudly.
A man who enjoyed pork and beans straight from the can, he was definitely a man of simple tastes, but had sage advice about watches and socks. Warnings about the repercussions would come in the form of "I blew a kiss for ya." His affinity for horrible polka and country music, German food, and calling people a "dreckiges sow" or a "testa quadra" will forever be ingrained in the minds of everyone who knew him.
He lived for his children Daniel (Rhonda) Kidd, Anita (Adam) Clay, and Rebekah Kidd (Inderpreet Singh), and their children Kevin, Caleb, Kassidy, Thalia, Ben, Rozemary, Gian, and great granddaughter Nora.
He is also survived by his five sisters Carolyn Kidd, Sandra Callipare, Nancy O'Connor, Debbie Tuttle, and Sharon Ziemba.
We love you, daddy. A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 29, 2022 from 4PM to 7PM at Heart & Hope by Schoedinger, 3030 W Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 with the funeral service being on Tuesday August 30, 2022 at 12NOON. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
