

Avis Elaine (Moorhead) Browning passed away peacefully on January 31, 2014 at Dublin Hospital. She was born on April 17, 1921 in Norwood, Ohio to the late Bernard and Addie (Haley) Moorhead. Also preceded in death by her husband Melvin (Pete) Browning. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1939 and graduated from YMCA Business College in 1940. She worked at Globe Wareke Furniture of Norwood and later became head bookkeeper for Schottenstein in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved to Columbus, Ohio when she married in 1942 where she served as Treasurer of the Linden Elementary PTA, chair of Linden Women’s Club, and chair of Linden United Appeal. She was a 50 year member of Twig #77 and Upper Arlington Home Extension. In 2013, she received her Eastern Star 70 year pin from Lorrain Chapter #1. She was a long time member of Discover Christian Church of Dublin, Ohio where she was very active in the Young At Heart Group. Being a participant in The Women’s Health Initiative and the WHI Extension Study was her gift to the women in her family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Europe, Asia, Australia and Central America. She is survived by sons Jim (Judy) and Tim (Connie) Browning; Grand children: Shawn (Holly), Eric (Anne), Jason (Jill) Browning, and Kerry (Matt) Leedy: Great Grand children: Sydney, Ellie, Carson, Elaina, Peyton, Ashley, Sophia, Rachel, and Andrew. Private services will be held for family. Interment at Union Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Avis will be held at later date at Discover Christian Church. An announcement will be made.
