Dear Kim, John and Andrea. I was very sad to hear this news today. Mama Manzi was our second Mom . I have such fond memories of her. I loved her dearly, I loved her passion, I loved her infectious laugh. That laugh would light up any room or mood. I am blessed to have known her and will cherish every memory. The first bible  verse my mom taught me was John 3:16. She helped memorize it. I was probably 7 years old. I remember her working with me and teaching me how to memorize something. She helped me understand it's meaning....."For God so loved the world (almost as much I as I do you- she'd say) He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not parish, but have everlasting life."

One of the best days in my whole life with my mom when I was in Ohio the first of April. I was holding my mom's hand that night. I got to tell her what an awful teenager I was to her and what an incredible mom she was to me.......I told her I was sorry in the times I disappointed her, and hoped most times she was proud of me.....

......I reminded her of the time when I was teaching in Las Vegas, and my 175 kid marching band was getting ready to take the field in competition as I watched from the field I glanced up into the stands....I had such PRIDE in my heart--not because I had a State Champion Marching Band about to win state in that moment-- My heart truly skipped a beat when from the bottom of the field, I watched my 70 some year old mom struggle, but with determination, climb those bleacher stairs to get to that 3/4 way up seat on the 50 yardline, like she had done so many times to see me march....she was climbing them to see my students march years later! At that moment I didn't care if we won, or if we placed. I KNEW I had won EVERYTHING because my mom was there and she was proud of me.  ALWAYS a band mom! I know John, Andrea, Drew, Callie and Derek and Dylan have experienced the same PRIDE. Mom made all of our Field Commander Uniforms for me and John. She watched Andrea march, and years later Drew knows she went to many of his games with 'Go Girl' Kathy in tow....She used to talk to me on the phone for hours, about Drew's marching show, Callie at baton competitions (and her cute costumes) and how beautiful she was and she reminded her of me at that age, and Derek and Dylan at basketball events and how awesome they both played basketball. She relived every one of those events with me in such detail I felt as if I experienced them all with her! Despite the distance between us, when we talked, we enjoyed these life events together. 

In early April, she was awake, aware, and she held me. Wrapped her arms around me and I cried like a little girl because in that moment I knew that would be the last time my God fearing, loving, taught me everything I know, sarcastic, graceful, AMAZING mom would ever touch and hold me like a mom holds you again. I want to always remember that feeling. Her hug, her touch, her saying, "its gonna be OK Kimmie". 

I took a picture as I was holding her hand that night.....not realizing her hand said "I LOVE YOU" in sign language. I noticed that the day she died, Good Friday. It was a good day for her to pick to go home to be with God and dad. My heart is breaking. I love her so. I have faith and I believe. I WILL see her again. I love you mommy! :purple_heart: Kimberly

My sister,Barbara wanted nothing more than a loving husband and a family.She achieved that in her life.Kim,John, and Andrea she loved you all equally.You have wonderful memories .Keep them in your hearts and know that she and your dad are always with you.
In her younger years,she was the adored auntie of my children.She was with me when they all were born.Their memories are of auntie Baba coming to visit every weekend. and of the train trips to Hartford with her.They.adored her and she they.
Life has not always been easy for her.Now is her time to Rest In Peace knowing that her family can and will remain united.
