Deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends. Mr. Ward was one of my teachers for math, also, my husbands, Johnnie's.  I really enjoyed being in his class.  He knew how to keep a person interested in their work.  He had to have a lot of love for his job and for kids of all ages.  Always there when we needed help. Mr . Ward will always be in our hearts.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr.Ward's wife and family,he was truely a wonderful man and teacher.I had him for math and algebra 1 and he could always make learning fun.Mr.Ward was not only my teacher in high school but my father and mother's as well.It was truely an honor to have been one of his students.He will never be forgotten,may he rest in peace.

The man was a vast wealth of information. One of the many lessons he imparted on me that still rings true to this day. The shortest distance between any two points, is always undercontruction. Mr. Ward was my favorite and most inspiring teacher I had at SE.  He encouraged me to take all the college prep courses and helped challenge me with his wisdom and confidence in my abilities.  He is the reason I choose nursing b/c of his love for math and science too.  Being one of five children he taught the Wright family spent many hours talking to one another about how fantastic he was!  No one in my educational career was more inspirational.  On one occasion ten years later I visited SE and told him how I felt.  We had a great time remembering.

Mr.Ward was a good no excellent teacher and person.I seen his passing and remembered him letting me take up some of his lunch time actually most of it to teach me my algebra.He will be missed and his patience and knowlegde appreciated by so many students from S.E. me beening 1993 class clown did not make his job easy either but he could sneek a few on you before you got a chance.He was one of a kind and in a catagory of his own.I send my sympathy out to all his friends and family.

My kids and I haven't been in the family long but, the time we have gotten to spend with Bart and Connie have been some of the greatest times we've had. They both are so kind and generous and would do anything for anybody. I am very proud to say we are a part of this family and we are so blessed to have gotten to spend time with them. Mr. Ward was my favorite teacher. He is the reason that I became a math teacher myself. I was blessed to have him as a coach in Jr. High and a teacher all through high school. He was a great teacher and role model for all of his students. I enjoyed having him as teacher but even more as a friend. My prayers will be with his family.

Bart delivered one of the first valedictorian speeches I can remember at Southeastern graduation. We had a great time learning in advanced math class from Mr. Ward who was the last teacher I had that could explain math in a way that you could understand it. I always enjoyed working with Bart during alumni events at Southeastern of which he was a big part. He touched alot of people's lives and will be missed. Sincere sympathy to all of Bart's family. Dear Connie, Carmen, and the entire Ward Family.  I want to say how sorry I am the see that Bart passed away.  I did have the opportunity to talk to him about a week ago on the phone.  I was surprised he was able to take my call but that is Mr. Ward.  He truly cared and liked people.  Mr. Ward was my first track coach in junior high and I have always respected him greatly.  This was a time period I needed a mentor and he was always there to guide me.  I used to run into Mr. Ward over the years since we both lived in Circleville.  It was always nice to catch-up on old times.  I am sure you are feeling much grief right now but I am also sure he is in a better place, teaching, mentoring, and coaching at the highest level. Dear Ward Family, my prayers are with you at this most difficulty time; however I beleive that at these most difficult times it is always nice to here about those wonderful stories that our loved ones did for others. 
    I remember when I was in high school (Southeastern) that Mr. Ward stayed after school and helped me, actually tutuored me with my Algebra. If it wasn't for him I would not have passed! I will never forget him for that. I needed that Algebra class to go on and finish to advance to college classes. Of course I ended up taking even harder Algebra classes and even Statistics, but I needed that basic foundation! Today I am a teacher myself. I teach Nursing! Thank you Mr. Ward for your time and your dedication to the teaching profession which is a difficulty and challenging profession! I am sure there are many more students who can atest to my story as well. God Bless!

Connie and family,  we are so very sorry to hear of Bart's passing.  He was a wonderful person with a kind heart.  It's so hard to believe that another person that we cared so dearly for has left us.  Things aren't always fair in this life but we believe that he is in a better place and we'll see him again.  He was a wonderful teacher and coach who always had time to spend with his students.  We feel so fortunate that we got to know you and Bart outside of school and have become friends.  We are also thrilled that our son got to know you both as well.  Please find comfort knowing that he was a great man and will be missed by so many people who's lives he touched. Bart is the best uncle anyone could ever ask for. I will never forget the special times he spent with our family. I will never forget going on vacation with Bart and Connie when I was younger as well as taking me to the Dayton air show. He was always so involved with the family. I love you and miss you so much!

Bart was a fine gentleman and an excellent teacher. His loss is hard to believe because he was always full of life and laughter. It was good to learn that he did make it to all 50 states as planned. At SEHS it was an annual tradition for boys to heft his VW Bug on to the school steps. Funny! My condolensces to Mr & Mrs Ward, Connie, Carmen & Roy and all of the Ward family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Ward's family and especially to his wife Connie.  Mr. Ward was a great man and I'm honored to have had him as a teacher and coach.  Whether it was on the basketball court in Junior High to the math and computer classes in High School, Mr. Ward touched the lives of so many people, including mine, in such a positive and memorable way. I was very fortunate to have Mr. Ward as a coach and teacher.  The last time I talked to Mr. Ward was a few years ago in the Church Golf League at Running Fox.  He introduced to me to some other former students and told them I was a former student also.  I still called him Mr. Ward because I always respected him and felt if I didn’t I might get in trouble. I told him that and he laughed as he said he still called Mr. Davisson , Mr. Davisson,  because he had Mr. Davisson as a teacher in school and they were teachers together at Southeastern. Mr. Ward was a dedicated teacher and coach.  The amount of time he spent helping the students of SE is truly amazing.  He positively impacted the lives of many a young athlete through the countless hours he spent working at practices and games/meets. My deepest sympathy goes out to Bart's family. He was one of my favorite teachers at Southeastern. I had him for trig. and calculus and I was very forunate I had him for these classes. Math was never my speciality, but he was very patient and he was wonderful at explaining any math processes. He always had a smile and he always remembered my name. One funny memory I have from being in his classes is he would spray a great amount of Apple Orchard spray in times when the room became smelly. Kids didn't like it and the more we complained the more he would spray and....SMILE and LAUGH! I enjoyed his class and has inspired me as a teacher. It broke my heart to hear of Bart's passing. He was one of my favorite teachers at SE. He was such a kind and gentle person that was loved by everyone. Even when I got in trouble for talking too much in his class, he was still so nice when he disciplined me! I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. He will truly be missed. Bart was a wonderful person as well as a great teacher. I don't think I ever heard him raise his voice and you could tell that teaching was something that he loved. I had Bart for math in jr. high and he just made math so easy for me to learn. I also subbed with Bart when I started teaching and enjoyed the days I subbed with Bart in the high school. Mr Ward was my one of my favorite teachers.  Always willing to take the time to give you that extra help if needed.  Sharing his family slides from vacation and taking the time to get to know each student on a personal level.  He was amazing.  I have often repeated his little phrase he would say in class sometimes..." Patiance is a virtue seldom found in men never found in woman"  He always had a smile :)  RIP  MR. Ward!

Bart Ward  was a GREAT teacher to me in my high school years, not only as a teacher but also as a friend. I always enjoyed talking to Bart and hearing about the many places and sights that he and his wife Connie had traveled to during summer breaks from school and the slide shows he would show us sometimes in Math class were amazing. Doug and I will miss you alot and are so thankful we got to visit with you several weeks ago when you looked so good. May God be with all of the family. I was fortunate enough for Bart to not only be my teacher, but also my second cousin.  He was the only teacher that actually made me understand math!  He was such an intelligent and funny man!  My prayers to Connie and the rest of his family.

Mr. Bart Ward personified the phrase "a scholar and a gentleman." Great teachers touch our lives in special and ongoing ways, and this man was a great teacher and a special man.

In the truest sense of the word, Bart was a "gentleman". His quiet, yet witty, manner made him a joy to be around as a collegue. Bart was a person who could gently bring out the very best in a person or at least make a person feel that the best in them could be brought out.

When computers first began to make their way into our school system, Bart along with Tony Siders, taught a class on computer use in the classroom after school for the first few brave souls who were willing to put themselves through that torture. Some of us were very dense (me, for sure!)......especially after a long day of teaching. Bart was always ready with a patient explaniation, a smile, an encouraging word or Tylenol to keep us going! 

My very first ever e-mail was from Bart. He wrote, " Hey, Sara. Are you in your room? I'm in mine. You can e-mail me back by hitting, "Reply". Good Luck!"  I always thought that Bart knew I needed luck to accomplish that task!

Remembering Bart from SE high school. As I recall he was a very serious minded individual who took life to be more than a pass through experience. One instance in particular: one day Slick asked him why he didn't go out for track, and I heard Bart tell him that with his church activities he didn't have the time to spare. I was very fortunate to have Bart for an uncle. As a teacher, I know he helped shape many young lives - none more than mine. My earliest memories as a child include peering through his telescope to view the sun; laying on a picnic table counting falling stars; tractor pulls and balloon races; lots of track meets and ball games. A couple of summers he even helped coach my softball team. No doubt about it, Uncle Bart made my childhood a better one. I will forever cherish those many memories and will always be grateful for all he done for me and with me. Never to be forgotten, always to be remembered! Mr. Ward was one of my favorite teachers at SE. I can still see him standing at the blackboard in the room on the second floor. I also remember classmate Tammy Litter Cox squirted him with a squirt gun during class. (I think he got her back too!)  He was always friendly and always knew who you were whenever you saw him. I enjoyed working with Bart on the Early Years Committee for SE.  He was always so friendly and had a great smile.  He had a very quiet manner and was always so helpful. Mr. Ward was one of favorite teachers at Southeastern.  He was an enjoyable teacher and made learning fun. He had a unique teaching style and sometimes you didn't realize you were actually learning. I always looked forward to his classes and wish I had more teachers like him. I am glad that I had the opportunity to be one of his students.  I will never forget that it was in his class where I learned the meaning of "assume".  I still think of him everytime I hear that word and I share his definition when I can.  Years later after graduation, I was touched that he still remembered me. He was a joy to talk to.  I remember talking to him at my cousin's graduation party about old times and being in his classroom.  There isn't another teacher like Mr. Ward.  He will be greatly missed.

Mr.Ward was one of my favorite teachers at SEHS (class of 1977). But it was several years later that I was able to really get to know him and his sense of humor as we were able to take a couple of golf trips together. No matter how much time on the golf course we eventually spent together, I never felt comfortable calling him Bart. He was and always will be Mr.Ward to me. A man who truly cared about his students and was a devoted Family man. Connie, I am sorry for your loss.

I will greatly miss Mr. Ward.  I had the honor of staying in contact with him even after graduation.  When I got married he made the 500+ mile trip to attend my wedding.  I will never forget his refusal to sign my drop slip for advanced math my senior year.  I didn't think so at the time, but he was doing me a favor.  Anytime I hear the word "peruse" I will think of him.  I am glad I had the opportunity to know Mr. Ward.

I had the experience of having Mr Ward in both my freshman and senior year of high school.  His class was always the ones I looked forward to the most each day.  Though the classes were challenging, he was a great person to be around.  I really enjoyed that time of day and I know all of my other peers did as well.  He was a wonderful teacher and very knowledgable, as well as patient.  We needed that in the classes I was in which included some of the most trying students at times.  And yet several years after I graduated and moved away, when I was visiting back home and ran into him and he still remembered my name as if I was still in his class just yesterday.  He was one of the teachers that I admired the most with his teaching style.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family during their time of loss.  Southeastern lost a great teacher when Mr. Ward retired.  It would take a exceptional individual to fill his shoes.  It's hard to find teachers like this now when our kids are in school.

I very much enjoyed Mr. Ward's classes.  He grew up with some of my family on Spud Run, so there we had a personal connection.  I remember him using note cards with students names to call on people in the class.  He would shuffle them and everyone would be scared for their names to come up.  I actually use the same method in the college courses I teach.  Mr. Ward was an exceptional teacher.  His gentle spirit, sense of humor and willingness to explain created an environment for true learning.

Mr. Ward was a great teacher with a wonderful sense of humor. I am not sure I would have graduated if not for him and his quirky personality. I was not the best student he ever had in trig/calculus but, I entertained him and he was good enough to make sure I wasn't totally ignorant on the material but also gave me a break with his scoring on papers. His technique of giving you 10 points on a paper for remembering to put your name on it saved me from having a zero sometimes and if I isn't know an answer, I tried putting my name there too. He was tickled that I thought if it and actually gave me a little credit for those problems too! I'll always remember him humoring me and making us all laugh with his classroom "ghost".   Remember the smiles you shared, the memories you made, and the love he gave!

Mr. Ward was a great teacher and lovable person. He was quiet, but very smart. He touched so many people. My parents went to hs with Mr. Ward and have always spoke of him fondly. Thank you Mr. Ward for everything you taught me. You will be missed dearly.
