Benjamin L. Haner

Benjamin L. Haner, age 88, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021. Born on March 27, 1933 to the late Ervin and Irene Haner on a farm in Gallia County. Survived by his loving wife Meredith "Merrie" Haner; son Robert Haner; grandchildren Matthew Haner and Hailey Haner; daughter-in-law Patty Haner; grandchild Sarah Haner; and many nieces and nephews. Ben graduated from Gallia Academy High School in Gallipolis, Ohio. After school he spent three years in the Army, leaving the service as a motor pool sergeant. After retiring from the service, Ben spent 10 years in the autobody field at Bolt Works and Byers dealership. He then began working as a claims adjuster with Nationwide Insurance, taking early retirement after 24 years. He finished his career working with a private adjusting firm for 12 years before taking full retirement. Ben is preceded in death by his son David Haner; and six siblings: Willard Haner, Florence Hoops, Pearlie Haner, Fred Haner, Ida Deyo, and Hazel Stout. Ben was a member of University Lodge #0631, Aladdin Shriners, other Masonic organizations, and American Legion. Ben enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends of the Upper Arlington Senior Golf Group. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to University Lodge #0631, Northwest Masonic Temple, 2436 W. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
