Betty Rose (Mueller) Mueller, 95, of Grove City, died at home on Jan. 8, 2016, after a short illness. Born March 18, 1920, in Columbus to the late Oscar and Florence (Ruffing) Mueller, she was a 1937 graduate of West High School and attended Bliss Business College. She worked at Jaeger Machine Company during World War II and retired from Borden Milk Products in Akron in 1983. Other employers included Tracy Wells, Union Fork and Hoe, Standard Brands and Anna May's Dress Shop. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Mueller. They shared 71 wonderful years together. As his health declined during the last two years of his life, she was a devoted caretaker who missed her daily visit at his care facility only once and that was because of icy conditions. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Delores "Dee" Ricketts, and brother and sister-in-law James "Jim" and Helen Mueller. She is survived by two children, Donna Price and David (JoAnn) Mueller; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Price (Ryan Alessi); seven nieces and nephews; and dear friends Rose Burns and Traci Whitaker. She was a sensational cook, particularly her legendary homemade chicken 'n' noodles and angel food cake, a booklover who preferred political and celebrity biographies, a devoted daily reader of The Dispatch, a shrewd card player, an expert bargain hunter at Macy's, and a lifelong baseball fan who frequently attended games at Red Bird Stadium as a teenager with her sister and a cousin. In her later years, she was an ardent and opinionated Cincinnati Reds fan who rued the day the team traded Drew Stubbs, thought it was a "poor, poor decision" to bring Bryan Price back for the 2016 season, and believed Pete Rose should be absolved because all of us make mistakes and deserve forgiveness.
