

Betty Tryon, age 84, of Estero, Florida, formerly of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 17, 2014. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she was a graduate of The Ohio State University. Betty retired from Columbus City Schools where she taught for over 25 years and served as an assistant principal. From a young age, Betty was drawn to the beaches of Florida. She retired to Estero, FL, served on the board at Fountain Lakes Condominium and was a docent for Friends of Barefoot Beach. She was a member of the Church of Christ, enjoyed playing the piano, writing, reading and most of all, spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by son, Paul Tryon, daughter, Pamela Strouth and parents, James and Birdie Bell. Survived by daughter, Ardith (David) Black; son-in-law Theodore Strouth; grandchildren, Alexander (Amanda) Strouth, Adam (Haley) Strouth, Ashley Black and Andrea Black; great-grandchildren, Austin and Anna Strouth; brother James Jr. (Ann) Bell of Hendersonville, TN. Family will welcome friends 5-8pm Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where services will be held at 10am Friday; entombment to follow at Union Cemetery; Pastor Stan Kirtlan (Buckeye Christian Church), officiating.
