

Bobby Glen Gibbs (93) of Upper Arlington, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on April 29, 2025. He was born in Hazard, KY on December 30, 1931. He attended Eastern Kentucky University on a ROTC scholarship with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He went on to serve in the US Army where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant while serving at Fort Sill and Fort Leonard Wood as Battery Commander and Basic Training Company Commander, respectively.
Upon leaving the Army, Bobby joined Ashland Oil, Inc. in Ashland, KY as a chemist but soon relocated to Dublin, OH to serve as the Regional Director for Industrial Chemicals and Solvents Division at Ashland Chemical, Inc. where he worked for more than 30 years. Upon his retirement, he continued to be involved in the business sector through consulting, volunteering his time at SCORE, and teaching business classes along the way.
While his career was an important aspect of his life, family and church life were of primary importance. He lived his Christian faith daily including teaching many Bible classes, serving as an Elder at the Flatwoods Church of Christ in Kentucky as well as the congregation on Fishinger Rd for over 25 years. For recreation, Bobby attended hundreds of baseball, basketball, and cheer events for his children and grandchildren as well as playing golf. He had the opportunity to play at many of the premier golf courses throughout the country, Pinehurst being a favorite.
Bobby is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Joyce for 65 years; daughter Susan (David) Hatgas; daughter in law Carol Gibbs; 5 grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Bobba”: Matthew (Erica) Gibbs, Dr. Brendan Gibbs PhD, Christian Gibbs, Dr. John David Hatgas MD, Annie Hatgas; and 3 great-grandchildren, Margo, Jeremy, and Derek Gibbs.
Bobby was preceded in death by his loving son, Dr. Jeffrey M. Gibbs, DDS (2017)
As a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a strong Christian example; he will be deeply missed.
A time of visitation with funeral service to follow will be held:
