Brent L. "Boone" Carson

A funeral service for Brent L. “Boone” Carson, 68 of Newark, will be held on Monday, July 9 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Entombment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Brent was (the sixth child) born on February 1, 1944 to the late Henry and Helen (Livingston) Carson. He died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, after a long courageous battle with lung disease, at Mount Carmel East Hospital.

Brent graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1963. He retired from Owens-Corning in 2001 after 37 years of service. He was involved in many sporting activities and was a founding member of the Newark Softball Association. He was a life-long baseball and softball player, playing on the Best Jewelry little league team at an early age, to the traveling Old-Timers softball team, later in life. He also played on many other teams throughout his life. He was a well known motorsports fan and raced cars at Hyde Park and National Trails Raceway.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 31 years, Sharon (Lallathin) Bolton Carson, whom he married on July 10, 1981; his #1 son, Walter Upson (Teresa) Bolton III; his grandchildren, who are the apples of his eye, Jacob Bolton, his best buddy and Madison Bolton, his little darling; sisters-in-law, Shirley Deck and Junie (Bill) Johnson; brother-in-law, Glen Read and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanne Moody, Betty Jones and Barbara Read; two brothers, Don Carson and Chub Carson; sisters-in-law, Dorothy “Dottie” Carson and Patty Brooks; brothers-in-law, Charles Brooks, Joe Deck, Palmer Jones and Howard Moody; and his faithful feline companions, Smokey, Bandit and Phasia.

Friends may call at the funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM.
