Brian Sean Casey, 50, of Powell, died December 29, 2016, in an aviation accident off the shores of Lake Erie. He was with his beloved daughter Megan and will have his arms around her always. Above all else, Brian was devoted to his family and always put them first. They will miss him beyond all measure, along with the vast personal and professional community he built throughout his life. With his best friend, wife, and partner of 27 years, Sharon Mulroy Casey, Brian raised three compassionate, brilliant, and beautiful children, Matthew, 24, Megan, 19, and Molly, 15. He was always present and had an uncanny way of imparting enduring life lessons in the small moments. Brian was patient but firm. He was demanding but fair. He attended every one of his children's football games, regattas, horse shows, and other events, always there to show his support. Brian was a calm, stable, and loving force for his family. Born January 19, 1966, in Columbus, Brian graduated in 1989 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the The Ohio State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon, that same year. Brian had a distinguished 22-year career with global engineering firm CH2M where he was Vice President and Global Sales Director. His passion and extraordinary ability to solve problems, large and small, extended well beyond his work as an engineer and manager, touching the lives of extended family, neighbors, and countless friends. Everyone depended on Brian, and he did not disappoint - willingly, enthusiastically, and expertly lending a hand to anyone who asked. Brian never hesitated to be there for the people who were important to him. An avid reader and man of boundless energy and curiosity, Brian continually cultivated new skills. He was an accomplished woodworker, Big Green Egg grill master, and pheasant hunter at Lake Hill Club, where he was a member and often hunted with Matt, Megan, and his adored golden retrievers, Reagan and Riley. He was quick to laugh, to give a much-needed hug, to raise a glass, or to cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Liberty Patriots and the Davidson Wildcats. Brian loved American history and could offer thoughtful, carefully considered perspectives on a wide array of topics. After a conversation with Brian, one came away feeling smarter, better informed, and enriched by his knowledge and willingness to engage in discussion about virtually anything. Brian was a member and Deacon at Liberty Presbyterian Church, a Life Member of The Ohio State University Alumni Club, and he was on the steering committee for Champions for P.L.A.Y. (Private Leisure Assistance for Youth), an organization offering grants to underprivileged youth for participation in after-school and summer programs in Columbus. Brian was a principled man who lived every day of his life in accordance with his beliefs. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm Sunday, January 15, at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015. There will be a reception immediately following at Wedgewood Country Club, 9600 Wedgewood Blvd, in Powell, Ohio.
