Bruce B. Barber,

Bruce B. Barber, III, entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 5, 2009. Bruce was born January 8, 1945 in Columbus. He graduated from North High School and from The Ohio State University. Bruce gained employment with Franklin County Job and Family Services and has been with them for the past 32 years. As a young boy, Bruce was an Eagle Scout and continued his dedication to others through his membership in Alpha Phi Omega during his college years. Bruce continued to go above and beyond the call of duty through his memberships in the Cursillo Movement, the Open Church, where he volunteered with the homeless and those in emergencies, and as a former coordinator for the neighborhood Block Watch. Preceded in death by his parents, Bruce, Jr. and Betty Jane Barber; brothers, Thomas and Douglas Barber; and sister, Jenny Barber, Bruce will be missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Carla Wimmer Barber; son, Brian Barber and daughter, Christina Barber; grandson, Dylan Maxwell; his “little girl”, Shanna; sister-in-law, Patricia “Trish” Barber; nieces, Melissa “Meli” and Guinevere “Gwen” Barber; and a host of special friends. Bruce enjoyed target shooting, photography, and bird watching. His devotion to his family and friends was portrayed through his love for genealogy. Funeral services 1pm Monday, November 9, 2009 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, Rev. Elizabeth Lilly, officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5pm and Monday from 11am-12:45pm. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.
