

Carol Stevens Doyle, age 81, died peacefully in the presence of family on May 21, 2014 after an extended illness. Carol was born in New Rochelle, New York on April 22, 1933 to the late Richard Stevens and Isobel Malcom. She is also preceded in death by beloved grandson, Daniel Trautman. Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Patrick W. Doyle; children, Lynn (Michael) Wright, Julia (James) Turner, Karen Roberts and Betty Trautman; grandchildren, Julia (Attila) Saary, Rebecca (Thomas) McKenzie, Benjamin Knox, Ryan Denehy, Chelsea Denehy, Rachel Trautman, Madeline Roberts and Mitchell Roberts; great grandchildren, Elijah Woodroof and Benjamin White; Step-children and grandchildren, William (Jeanne) Doyle, Andrew (Pam) Doyle, Patrick (Nancy) Doyle, Betty Doyle (Chris) Layton, and Molly, Carrie, Mary Clare, Aidan, Kevan, Joseph and Darby Doyle; and sisters, Beverly (Theodore) Otteson and Sandra (Lee Roy) Grover; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Upon graduation from The Ohio State University School of Education, Carol taught art in the Dayton Public School System. Carol was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Through the years she was a gifted gardener and cook and enjoyed tennis, walking, entertaining and traveling. Without a doubt, her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Carol was a longtime member of First Community Church and FCC Couple's Circle 46, Childhood League Assisting Board VI, Twig 116 of Nationwide Children's Hospital, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority Alumnae Group and KAO/Alpha Gamma Chapter at OSU House Corporation Board. Carol served the community with dedication through countless volunteer hours. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4:00-7:00pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 42221. A Memorial Service to honor Carol will take place on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00am at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Rev. James Long Officiating.
