Carolyn Jane Mapes

Carolyn “Carol” Jane Mapes, age 74 of Powell, Ohio passed away on March 23, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born September 29, 1940 in Rock Creek Township near Adrian, Illinois to the late Harold C. Neff and Daisy Rogers. She is preceded in death by brother Arthur and twin sisters, Flora and Margaret. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald Rex Mapes; children, Linda (Tim) Ellis of Westerville; Ron Mapes; Columbus, Steve (PollyAnn) Mapes; Columbus, and Valerie (Matt) Scheibeck; of Lewis Center. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, which she adored very much. Carol was an exceptional homemaker and mother, and instilled great values in her children. She cherished her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carol also enjoyed bowling, ceramics, and traveling in earlier years. More recently, she enjoyed working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, often with her family, and car rides in the country. She graduated from Colusa High School in 1958 and attended Western Illinois University, where she met her husband. A memorial service with pastor Bud Leskovac will be held 5:00pm Thursday, March 26th at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, OH where friends may visit with the family from 4:00pm until the time of service.
