Catherine M. "Katie" Bellantis

Catherine M. "Katie" Bellantis, age 57, of Upper Arlington and formerly of Bay Village, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Kobacker House with family by her side. She was born February 12, 1958 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Agnes (Flaherty) Reiss. Katie began her career as a dental assistant with Dental Associates, retiring as the office manager of a dental group with over 30 years of service. She also taught dental assisting at Cuyahoga Community College for twelve years. The "best mom", she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brendan and Rachel, Colin and Megan, Michael and Kelsey; her grandchildren, Ethan, Caleb and Emma; brothers and sisters, John (Sue) Reiss, Peggy Reiss, Paul (Jean) Reiss and Mary (Rob) Small; nieces and nephews, beloved dog, Murph; her sons' father, Jeff Bellantis and many close friends. Katie was a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Cleveland and received an Associate Degree from Cuyahoga Community College. She attended Vineyard Christian Church in Columbus and St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Bay Village, OH. While battling her illness, Katie was a 4th Angel, participating in the cancer mentoring program through the Cleveland Clinic. She also volunteered as a caregiver to many elderly patients over the years. A Memorial Service will be held 9:30am Saturday August 1st at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 525 Dover Center Drive, Bay Village, OH 44140, where family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, 1729 Willey Rd., Cleveland, OH 44113 in Katie's name.
