

Celeste Marie Casey (Curran), age 90, died peacefully April 4, 2018, at Chelsea Place in Aurora, CO. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and married William (Bill) Thomas CaseyCeleste Marie Casey (Curran), age 90, died peacefully April 4, (deceased) for 64 years. Celeste was the youngest of six children: William, Mercedes, Thomas, Eugene, and Mark, who all preceded her in death. She was the mother of seven children: Cathleen Ann Casey (deceased), Celeste Casey Clarke, Francis L. Casey (Mary Jo), William T. Casey, Jr. (deceased), Theresa Gehr (Lee), Mary Jo Graham (John), and Maureen Rose (James); grandmother to 16; great-grandmother to 11; and beloved aunt and friend to many.
Celeste attended Marycrest College in Davenport, IA, where she met her husband, Bill, from Ambrose College. With only a semester remaining before her graduation, they married November 27, 1948. Twenty-three years later, Celeste proudly graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in Education and Home Economics. The majority of her teaching career was with Columbus Public Schools (Mifflin High) retiring in 1986. In 2004, Celeste and Bill relocated to the Denver area.
Celeste and Bill enjoyed 64 years of marriage together before Bill died in 2013. In their first 22 years of marriage, Celeste and Bill moved frequently, from Chicago to the Aleutian Islands (where Bill was deployed during the Korean Conflict), to Peoria, IL, Paxton, IL, Champaign, IL, Lansing, MI, and Upper Arlington, (Columbus) OH. Celeste and Bill camped with their children for three weeks every summer throughout the country. Prior to Bill's death, they spent winters at Sun-N-Fun Resort in Sarasota, FL. A lifelong bridge player, Celeste was also active in the Altar and Rosary Societies, Star Dusters Dance Club, and St. Andrews Woman's Club in Columbus. Celeste was was deeply committed to her faith but was also known for outstanding sewing, gardening, knitting, gourmet cooking, and baking.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 5-7 PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 6699 High Street, Worthington, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, OH on Monday, April 9, at 10:30. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Celeste's name to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
