Chad assisted our family a few years ago when our son’s IEP needed a big overhaul. He provided the wisdom and gentle pressure needed to move the dial. I really appreciated his manner of partnering and how he affirmed our “gut” about it. So generous with his time and I knew he loved helping our son. I found the obituary while looking to share his contact information with another parent. -Angela

I was shocked to read of Chad’s passing this morning. I had him in class and remember watching him wrestle a few times at UAHS. I also remember trying to get him to row for our program. He was always an adventurous young man and had a bit of mischief in his smile. I liked him immediately for that. Although I had lost contact with him since his graduation, I’m sure he was an accomplished and well-loved member of his community. If there’s anything I can do to help his family, please let me know.

I met Chad during my time at the woods at park side. Only to find out he used to be my social studies teacher back at grizzle. He made me feel at home when I was scared, I could talk to him about anything and everything. He was a role model and a leader. I would ask about life experiences and we shared so many laughs at our time in residential. Every day he talked about his wife and daughter and how much he loved them. I will always remember you and I appreciate everything you taught me Chad.

I'll never forget the first day I met Chad.  It was my daughter's second year at Grizzell 2014-15.... he was assigned to be her Intervention Specialist.  I could tell he was a bit nervous about meeting me because of my fierce advocacy for my kids!  But, after just a few moments, we made a real connection.  A bond was formed...it was like I had known him all my life.  He assured me that we were a 'team' and would work together...and that he'd be there for Tori--to help her develop both educationally and socially. 

I will never forget...one day she got confused and stayed after school on the wrong day for Drama Club.  She was just standing outside the building all alone, upset, embarrassed and feeling lost.  Chad called me immediately to let me know she needed a ride home.  This is just one example of how he was always looking after 'his kids!'   He asked Tori to be a statistician for his wrestling team so she would have an opportunity for more peer interaction and sense of belonging outside of the classroom setting.

It was a great experience for her.  He called me that Spring at my office and told me "And next year I'm going to have Brendan, too.  I'm going to work with him and help develop him into a fine young man both in and out of the classroom."  I was truly touched.

The next year he did just that.  He taught and coached Brendan, who despite never winning a match, bravely went to the mat each time.   Chad taught him to conquer fears and to overcome.   Later, Chad continued to advocate for both children's needs---going above the call of duty.   Without his intervention, I would have not known how to advocate for my children's specific needs.   One day he called me and said "I just want to thank you."  I asked him what for?  I honestly didn't know what he could be speaking of.   He explained that I inspired him to stay strong, to stand up for what is right---no matter what!

Even after Tori was in high school, Chad still kept tabs on Tori's development and called me, once again...to let me know about an issue that urgently needed my attention.  I can't say enough for Chad and the burden he carried for not just my kids but all 'his kids', those who needed the extra support and bridge of connection to their school and peer environment at their most critical time of development.   

I hope more parents and students will visit this page and share the endless acts of kindness and stories about their "Mr. A."   My family owes him a wealth of gratitude---without him, my daughter would not be in college today.  His advocacy of her provided the missing links needed for us to help her realize her full potential.    

I'm convinced he's now befriending and helping a whole new set of friends on his new journey....but we will never ever forget him, and will miss him greatly.

Our dearest sympathies to Chad’s family and friends.  Chad was a favorite teacher for one of our daughters. He had an infectious smile and bright personality. He made meaningful connections with his students. Chad was also an excellent advocate for another of our daughters. Chad made the world a brighter happier place and losing him will be felt for a long time.

The fact that you’re no longer with us is still so unreal to me right now. You showed many people including myself what it means to be there for others. The way you always showed up for so many children whether it be teaching, coaching or advocacy was without parallel! You definitely left a lasting mark on the world and will always be remembered as someone to strive to be like! Rest easy my friend,

The first thing I thing I think about when I think of Chad is his warm smile, and how he made you feel so comfortable in his presence. This past year Chad helped us with a challenging situation at our son’s school. During that process he brought so much passion, wisdom, patience and positivity to an incredibly stressful situation. I am grateful we got to share that time with him. We got to see Chad last Christmas and I remember as we were walking out the door my son got hurt. Chase ran up to Chad looking for comfort. Chad hugged him as if he was his own son. Chad will never be forgotten, his memory and how he touched my life will live on in me. I will forever be grateful to have known him.  To Jen, Aria and Chad’s family I am you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am heartbroken to hear about Chad’s passing.  I was blessed to work with Chad for several years at Grizzell. We had so much fun teaching together. We were like a comedy team,  and he always made learning fun!  The kids loved him, and he clearly loved all of his students. Chad made a great impact on so many lives,  and his beautiful spirit will live on forever. Sending prayers and love to Chad’s family.

Mr. Abraham was truly one of the best teachers I ever had. I can’t even put into words the amount of support he provided for me in middle school. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. He’s one of the reasons why I decided to major in special education. He touched so many lives of his students and the people around him. My thoughts and prayers go to his family durning this time.

We were so sorry to hear of Chad’s death.  He was our son’s roommate at Bowling Green his freshman year, and he has remained one of Scott’s closest and dearest friends.  We have always admired Chad’s decision to become a teacher of children with special needs.  It takes a kind and compassionate person to dedicate his life to helping others become the best that they can be.

When he visited Jerome my freshman year with some students he yelled "JARVIS!!!” and gave me a giant bear hug. He was truly the best and I hope he is at peace. 🖤

I was saddened to read of Chad’s passing. He coached my son, Cole, in middle school. He had never wrestled before and Chad taught him what he needed to be successful in the ring - and in life!  He was an advocate for all students who needed a little confidence boost. A born teacher, Chad was a shining example of putting it all out there for his students. He will be greatly missed. I met Mr. Abraham in 7th grade, he was my IS for my math class for 7th and 8th grade.  He was recently married when I met him and his wife had Aria when I was in 8th grade, I always loved hearing about them both and he was so proud of them.  I considered him a friend, I look back at middle school with the best memories and he’s in most of them.  Next year, I will be attending college with the major of Intervention Specialist, he is and always will be my inspiration.  Such a good guy.

Mr. Abraham was the ideal teacher. He not only taught me and helped me through math, but he taught me how to watch and understand a wrestling match. When he asked me to be a wrestling stat I thought I was going to be announcing wrestlers names before each match, but boy was I wrong. During each tournament he would make sure I ate and was full. I can’t put into words how much he influenced me. He was the best. He talked so highly of his daughter and wife, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Mr. Abraham was my best teacher and also my wrestling coach during middle school.   Even though I wasn't the best as a wrestler, he taught me to keep fighting...that winning isn't always about the score.  He was a great inspiration to me and most of all, he cared!  Prayers for his loved ones during this time.

I remember facetiming chad - Mr. Abraham, aka Mrs. Abraham’s husband. They were just recently married when I had Mrs. Abraham as a teacher in 6th grade. The smile on her face when we all forced her to talk about him was something I will never forget. The love between those two is, and will always be, cherished by so many.

I met Mr. Abraham in 7th grade and he was always the most nice and genuine person I would talk to throughout my day. Mr. A was always there for students and teachers, he always showed up to work with a smile on his face everyday ready to help students. Mr. A was also a very skilled wrestling coach and would always be there to support his wrestlers. I wish I would have talked to Mr. A more after middle school. He truly was a good man.

Met him as my 7th grade teacher about 11 years ago, stayed in touch ever since, was my brothers teacher as well as his wrestling coach.  He was a great mentor to me and Logan.  Wish we could have told him Logan wrote his college app essay on the advice Mr A had given him during a wrestling match just a few weeks ago.

I have had the pleasure of having Chad be both of my children’s intervention specialists and my sons wrestling coach. Chad had such an incredible gift teaching and we are so grateful to have been able to call him our friend. Much love to you Jen and Aria and family.

We met Chad, Jen and Aria 2 years ago as new neighbors. He was instantly super friendly and welcomed us to the neighborhood so warmly.  He did let us know he never got to swim in our pool from previously and I said "well you certainly will get to swim in ours now!" and we loved sharing it with his family.  He always helped take care of our property, and was always a helping hand with anything.  We kept our frig stocked with Mt. Dew for him when trading favors.  He was so proud of his family and always spoke highly of them.  Ron and I will miss him terribly as I know many neighbors will. He had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile and a heart of gold.
