Charles Laurence “Larry” Carter, age 84, of Columbus, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Kobacker House. His working life began in broadcasting with WOSU and WBNS, he taught in the Columbus Public Schools, retired from Orkin Pest Control, and in retirement worked as a substitute teacher. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps., an Ohio State University Alumni, and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Taking pride in successfully teaching some of life’s most difficult lessons, Larry served as a coach, teacher, and mentor to countless students. He is preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Belknap Carter and son, Bruce Carter. Larry is survived by beloved children, Cheri, Claudette, Honor, Charles, Jr., John, Catherine, Stephen, Ruth and Robert, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4-6:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER LINDEN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2741 Cleveland Avenue; private inurnment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
