I first met Chuck my sophomore year at Miami University.  He lived in a fraternity house next to the one I lived in and we would play basketball games against each other's house on my fraternity's basketball court.
We met again later when we were both on the Miami University's Tennis Team.  We played as doubles partners and won a MAC Doubles Championship and a MAC Team Championship.
Later when I moved back to Upper Arlington, I followed his football team.  The team had a stellar run to the National Championships led by Chuck as the quarterback.  I later coached Chuck's son, Tommy, on the Upper Arlington Tennis Team that won several State Tennis Championships.
Throughout our acquaintance with one another I found Chuck to be a good guy, a good dad, and I am proud to say, a good friend.
Good-bye, partner.  May you rest in peace.

Chuck was very kind to my family when my brother and I played tennis with Tommy at Upper Arlington.  His sense of humor, contagious positivity and aura was just tremendous.

We had not run into him since then, I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.  To Tommy, Kathy, Dan and Ann, please accept our deepest condolences.

I got to know Chuck when he served on the Executive Board of The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.  He was a great contributor to the work of the board during a period of rapid growth and change.  He gave me sound advice when I asked.  Always thoughtful and level-headed with his comments.  ALSO, a very " funny guy" with a great sense of humor. He could liven up a meeting.  Condolences to the family from his the staff and from the animals at the zoo. He will be missed.

I was so sadden to read of Chuck's death.  He was a great friend to my brother,
Ed Longendelpher for many years. We used to stop by to see him when Ed was getting

My dear friend Chuck was unique. I was never with him that I didn't appreciate his caring, warmth, competitiveness, intellect, curiosity, and humor. His wit was beyond great and his devilish grin and and eyes were always penetrating. The world has been stripped of a true warrior in the best sense of the word. He was the man you wanted in the fox hole with you. Our geographical distance from each other was great, but I felt that the next communication would be as if we had just been with each other. Man, the hole he leaves is huge. I loved the man. I send my deepest condolences to all the Freis. Kathy, you had the best.
