

Charles Richard Grieser, a generous and compassionate man, died at age 95 on July 29, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. He loved his family and friends who loved him back. Charles served his country in WWII, earning a purple heart. In 1948 he graduated from Harvard Law School, and challenged injustice in the courtroom as a trial attorney, winning several cases before the United States Supreme Court. Charles was a diehard Buckeye fan, he loved sports, and, at the age of 90, won a silver medal in tennis at the Senior Olympics.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret Powell Grieser. He is survived by son Richard (Mona) Grieser; daughter Barbara (Charles) Grieser; daughter Margaret (Steve) Michel; granddaughter Soraya Grieser; granddaughter Genevieve Michel; grandson Aziz Grieser; grandson Lyal (Katie) Michel; grandson Richard (Andrea) Michel; three great grandsons, Caleb, Cameron, and Dylan Michel; niece Margo Booth and other loving relatives.
His interment will be Thursday, August 4 at 11:30am at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44270-0008. His memorial service will be Saturday, August 6 at 11am with a reception to follow at First Congregational Church, 444 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
