

Charles Scott Hyatt, Jr. was born December 3, 1930 in Columbus to the late Elsie (Kemery) Hyatt and Charles Scott Hyatt. He died Sunday, May 20, 2018. Always known as "Chuck," he graduated from Bexley High School in 1948, attended Lehigh University and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1952, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a member of the Ohio Air National Guard. While at Ohio State he met the love of his life, Eleanor "Bunny" Hyatt and they were married on October 17, 1953. Chuck began his career at Columbus Coated Fabrics as a director of data processing before accepting a position at City National Bank/Bank One where he was involved with the first ATM machines and the direct deposit of paychecks and automatic bill authorization payments. He was the first President and CEO of CRAFTS, Central Regional Automated Funds Transfer System Inc., an organization with four hundred member banks and savings and loan institutions serving much of Ohio and Eastern Kentucky. He was a board member of the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) and served on their executive committee. Chuck was a dedicated member of his community, and he greatly enjoyed his years as a member of the Upper Arlington Civic Association, particularly in parade chairman positions for the 4th of July Parade. He was a member of the Arlington Club, and also served a term on the Upper Arlington City Council along with being the first chairman of the Board of Zoning and Planning and later serving on the Neighborhood Lighting Utility Board. He was a member of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on the finance committee and also as an usher. In retirement Chuck and Bunny enjoyed summers at their home on Walloon Lake, Michigan and he served as president of the Walloon Lake Association. He earned Master Gardener status. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bunny; children and their spouses, Lynne and Dave Kishler and Brad and Marilyn Hyatt; grandchildren, Scott (Lauren) Hyatt, Ashley Hyatt, Kristen Hyatt, Blake (Kelly) Kishler and Emily Kishler; and step sister, Mary Lewis. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43212, with Pastor Gary Brand officiating.
