Charles E. Mathews

Charles E. Mathews, age 59, of Columbus, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Chuck was a longtime roofer and operator of Mathews Roofing; for the last seven years, he had worked for The Limited in receiving. He was a Superman to his family and was admired for his work ethic. In his 50’s, he earned his GED and HVAC Certification. He had “the biggest heart” and cared deeply for his family and any dog that needed a friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margie Mathews, and fiancé, Georgia Loper. He is survived by his children, Jason and Jimmy Mathews, and Angel Koogler; stepchildren, Debbie (Virgil) Moore and Shane Barney; grandchildren, Skyler, Kailey, Ayden, Ariana, and Savanna; siblings, Lee (Dede) Mathews, Kathy (Charlie) Cain, and Tami LeFever; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Friends will be received from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER LINDEN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2741 Cleveland Avenue, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015; interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
