
Charles E. Rector, Jr., age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was born in Columbus on November 8, 1920, to the late Charles and Anna Rector, and was a graduate of Central High School. Charles was a WWII veteran of the US Navy, and after serving his country, he went to work for Pennsylvania Railroad, and then Penn Central. He retired in 1981 from Conrail. He was a Master of East Gate Lodge in 1963, and a 50-year member of Surrise F.&A.M. #748. He was also active with the Achbar Grotto, Aladdin Shrine, Registrars Unit, the Gahanna Moose, and was a life member of VFW 9857. Charles also enjoyed travelling, painting, and working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lee Rector; infant son, Charles Jr.; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers. He is survived by his children, Mike (Stella) Rector, and Nancy (Steve) Ward; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Sandra (Mike) Griffin; and other family members and friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus.
