

Charles Watson, Jr. age 76, was born May 30, 1949 in Toledo, OH to Charles Watson, Sr. and Leona Parker (Watson) Ferguson. He grew up in Sandusky, OH with his mother and step father Leo Ferguson, Sr. who he affectionately called Daddy Leo. Charles spent most of his adult years living in Detroit, MI where he met his very special friend Jacqueline King. He was a resident of Forest Hills Nursing Home in Columbus, OH where he passed away on August 29, 2016. Charles graduated from Sandusky High School where he learned to play baseball. He excelled as a baseball player and became a coach of the Junior League. He also coached the Hub Club in Sandusky, OH for many years. He enjoyed basketball. His favorite team was the Detroit Pistons. He loved fishing and he was a deacon at his church. Charles worked at Standard Products in Sandusky, OH then moved to Detroit, MI where he worked as a security guard for Detroit Edison (DTE). Charles was a quiet man, a man of few words. He did not like conflict. When he spoke people listened. He had a strong, deep, masculine voice and a contagious laugh. Charles is survived by his son, Anthony (Hope) Watson, Sr., his daughter, Maggie Watson, and his twin daughters, Lisa Daniels and Laura (Eugene) McDuffy all of Sandusky, OH, his grandchildren, DeCarlo Smith, Warner Robins, GA, Shaquela Knight, Anthony Watson, Jr., Moriell Watson, Deonte Watson, Marquette Watson, JaLenn McGee and Camden McGee all of Sandusky, OH, Octavia McKinstry, Dayton, OH, and Ka'Von Martin, Fremont, OH.. He has 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Melvin (Regina) Parker, Norwalk, OH, Richard Watson, Lorain, OH, Albert Ferguson, San Jose', CA, Leo (Roslyn) Ferguson, Jr., James Ferguson, both of Youngstown, OH, Leonard (Angela) Ferguson, Lima, OH, Bruce Ferguson, Ernest (Judy) Ferguson, and sisters, Alice' Ferguson, Margaret (Ferguson) Rembert, Lois Ferguson, all of Columbus, OH and a host of nephew, nieces, and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles Watson, Sr., his mother Leona Parker (Watson) Ferguson, and his step father Leo Ferguson, Sr.
Charles will be dearly missed by his family and friends
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the New Walk Church of God in Christ - 1660 Myrtle Ave., Columbus, OH 43211
