Costas Colliniotis went home to the Lord surrounded by his daughters on Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born on February 8, 1933, in Leonidio, Greece. He was the first born and only son of Sarantos and Vasiliki Colliniotis. He is survived by his loving daughters, Vivian (Robert) Derick, Susan (John) Warren; his sisters, Maria Lamrianos and Koula Thermoyani. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Billy, Katie Warren, Alessandra, Ella Derick, and many nieces and nephews in the US, Greece, England, and Ireland. Costas studied in England after graduating High School and then was sponsored by his Uncle, John to come to America. He liked telling us how he arrived on the Queen Mary ocean liner. He was a meat cutter by trade and enjoyed spending time with his family on Sunday drives to the country with a nice restaurant as the destination. He frequented the beaches of Chicago, planted tomatoes in his garden, and fought the squirrels for the pears in his backyard. He sent his daughters to Greece every summer from a young age to live with his parents and sisters so they could know their Greek family. Those trips help forge a strong bond to Greece, it's customs, and their extended family. He could be a little gruff but when he smiled the warmth and love he had for others was evident. He was a sharp dresser, and could be found in his wool pants, tailored shirt and herringbone suit coat over his long underwear three hundred days of the year. Our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful people at First Community Village that watched out for him and treated him with kindness and compassion.
There will be a private family service at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, St. Josephs cemetery on Friday November, 26th, 2021. The life saving drug for Lymphoma, that extended his life for over three years with no side effects was funded by Pelotonia. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Pelotonia in his name. Family has entrusted SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST with services.
