David Block

David ("Dave") Lee Block, 84 of Delaware, Ohio died on December 28, 2020 at St. Ann's Hospital. He was born September 27, 1936 to the late Leon and Ruth Gairing Block. Dave was a 1960 Graduate of Fenn College School of Engineering and was a partner in a professional engineering firm. Dave and his family were founding members of St. Peter Catholic Church in Worthington, Ohio where he served as an usher for many years. He and his wife are current members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware, Ohio. Dave was an avid golfer, bowler and hiker and was a member of the Airstream Club of Columbus and Cardinal Campers of Columbus. He was also a member of the Buckeye Walking Club and Heart of Ohio Hikers. Dave also served in the early 1970's as a volunteer for the baseball program in Worthington. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rita; children, Jim (Deb) Block, Cheryl (Mike) Barthel, and Debbie (Joe) Baudo; grandchildren, Brittany Baudo, Matthew (Carley) Barthel, Joey Baudo, Bryan (Kylee Wetterauer) Barthel, Chris Block, Travis and Wes; great grandchildren, Joel and Truett Barthel; sister, Diane (Wayne) Rogers; brother and sister in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID, a private family Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware, Ohio on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with a private burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery. For family and friends wishing to attend virtually, the Mass will be livestreamed at stmarylivestream.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made in memory of David Block to Ohio State's Ross Heart Hospital.
