He was born on January 4, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Raymond Hornung and survived by his mother, Joan Hornung. Dave graduated from Westland High School, class of 1980 where he met the love of his life Vicki, wife of 44 years. Dave worked in the grocery business at Big Bear and then Giant Eagle as a Produce Lead and clerk.
Dave was a man of intense humor, wisdom, and infectious laugh. He cherished every moment he could spend with his family. He loved being outdoors, especially with his grandkids close by whom adoringly called him Pawpaw. Whether at Pawpaw’s pool, having squirt gun battles, playing kickball, or sharing shelled peanuts on the patio.
Dave savored vacations with his wife, either to the beach awaiting sunsets or to a cabin with the family.
He was a self-taught carpenter and power tool enthusiast. He enjoyed the challenge home improvement projects offered. He was always able to make his or “The Design Team’s” vision appear. He graciously taught his sons his handyman skills and the love of building. His projects will be cherished for generations to come.
Dave will be greatly missed by beloved wife, Vicki; daughters Holli (Tim) Dyas; Lauren (TJ) Lacey, grandchildren; Claire, Ava, Nathan, Bryce and Luke; Mother Joan Hornung; sisters Rae (Steve) Rizzonelli, Tracy Patterson and brother Rick (Vikki) Hornung and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
