

Dave started his career in 1981 at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. His last 21 years were as a detective then supervisor in the Special Investigations Unit conducting/supervising undercover vice, narcotics, and animal fighting investigations. From 1996 to 2001, David was detailed full-time to the F.B.I. Organized Crime and Safe Streets Task Forces in Columbus.
David was an internationally renowned expert on illegal animal fighting having been recognized by the ASPCA, Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, Ohio Attorney General, Ohio Senate President, and U.S. Attorney's Office. He has lectured in 31 states on the topic and testified in 2006 before the U.S. Congress in support of the current federal animal fighting venture prohibition act. David has been interviewed by numerous national media outlets including USA Today, New York Times, CNN, ESPN, HBO, National Geographic and Animal Planet networks.
From 2011 to 2013, Dave was an investigator for Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office - Ohio ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children).
He began his Ohio Department of Agriculture career in 2013 as an Enforcement Agent and was appointed Chief in December 2017. He served as Chief of the Enforcement Division which provides administrative and criminal investigative support for all the regulatory divisions of Agriculture.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jack R. Hunt, mother-in-law Jean L. Fultz and brother-in-law John W. Harvey. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tracy L. Hunt; son Kyle D. Hunt; daughter Tian E. Hunt; mother Charlotte M. Hunt; sister Darbie A. Hunt; sister-in-law Kimberly Fultz Harvey; brothers in-law Richard C. Fultz (Bonnie) and James A. Fultz (Debs); and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast. A private service is planned by the family.
