The city and the world have lost a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers go out to David's family and friends.  He will be forever missed.

Dave and I had many experiences riding the medic together. My most memorable one was when while responding to and EMS run he broad-sided and flipped over an SUV that turned left in front of him. After coming to a stop Dave jumped out of the medic, kicked the front windshield out, and pulled the driver to safety. This was just one of many heroic and selfless acts of Dave’s. A truly remarkable man that will always be remembered and dearly missed.

I had the privilege of being David's high school history teacher. Although I was later laid off from Linden-McKinley, Jarvis and I remained friends all these many years. I will miss his twisted sense of humor.  May his family find solace in the fine life that he led.

David was a unique character who I had the pleasure of serving with in the US Army Reserves.  As one looks back on their career David was a soldier you remember.  He was gung-ho, competent, good leader, and most of all he had a fabulous sense of humor even when things were at the toughest. He was an individual who gave his all. My dear friend Jarvis!  You were one of a kind, a good man with a great heart.  Always encouraging, laughing, and telling funny stories. You touched so many lives and made a difference! The world has lost a precious soul.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Susan and to the family and friends that were in his life. He will always be missed.

I served with Dave, he was one of a kind – funny yet serious when the time arose.  He’ll be missed.

We had the unique experience of calling Dave and his family neighbors for 12 years. The day we moved into our new home Dave was there to help. He lent out his tools to his new neighbors so that we could begin the necessary renovations to our new home.  Dave would stop what he was doing to help me carry something too heavy or move something too big. I can't count the number of time Dave would shovel our sidewalk which was 10 time the length of his. I will never forget the day I asked him if I could use his chainsaw and instead of saying yes, he cut down our trees himself. I will always remember him as a very giving person. I feel lucky to have called him neighbor and friend. Dave's family and our community lost one of those rare people we all should be so lucky to know.

Dave and I were medic partners early on in our career. We’d be on runs and people would ask if we were brothers (even though Dave and I would laugh really not seeing why). We formed a friendship that has lasted over 20 years. He will be deeply missed.  I will always keep his family in my prayers.

I am so very happy that I got to know and be friends and go to high school with David.  He was so very nice and sweet guy.  I sure hope prayers and hugs to the family.
