David R. Metcalf

David R. Metcalf, age 81, died Monday, June 20, 2016. He was born June 4, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Alvin and Mable Metcalf and is also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Mary Catherine Metcalf; and brother-in-law, Eugene Harmeling. David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly L. Metcalf; sons, Scott E. (Cheri L.) Metcalf of Mt. Vernon and Jeffrey D. (Jen) Metcalf of New Albany; daughter, Pamela M. Metcalf of Gahanna; grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) Scott, Cole (Emily) Metcalf, Joshua, and Allison Metcalf; brother, Billie (Matalene) Metcalf; sisters, Phyllis (Charles) Graver and Beverly Harmeling; three nieces, two nephews, many cousins; and beloved Golden Retriever and companion, Carla. David was a US Navy Veteran who served aboard the USS Saratoga in the North Atlantic. He was a very outgoing person who owned the David R. Metcalf Construction Company and worked as a residential contractor. Later he worked in sales with the Metcalf Design & Printing Center. David was a Team Leader with the Gahanna/New Albany Relay for Life. He loved the Buckeyes and enjoyed playing golf. He will be greatly missed. His family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH 455 Clark State Road, Gahanna where a Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Pastor Kai Nilsen officiating. Burial will follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery.
