David Barton Rickard was born February 2, 1952 to Elizabeth Barton (Jones) Rickard & Edward M. Rickard in Titusville, PA, and passed away on April 3, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, his home for over 50 years. David graduated from Elmira High School in Elmira, New York in 1970 and arrived in Columbus to attend the Ohio State University. While at OSU, David joined the work crew of Dave Work Contracting to paint the twin tower dormitories on Campus. He furthered his career, painting Columbus for another decade, but later joined the tobacco aficionados at Pipes & Pleasures on E. Main Steet in Columbus. David met the love of his life, Karen, and they were married in 1984. They remained married until Karen passed in March of 2023. David was an avid guitarist playing in a high school band in Elmira and then continued to play in college. He was a founding member of the local band, Dirty Billy, which had a dedicated following at Dick’s Den on N. High Street and made regular appearances for the Community Festival (“ComFest”) at Goodale Park. His years since Karen’s passing were difficult as he was missing his kindred spirit. A special thank you to David’s close friends and the staff at Mayfair Retirement and Mayfair Village as they compassionately cared and fellowshipped with him daily. David is survived by his stepdaughters, Kimberly Clarke of North Carolina and Stefanie Clarke of Northern Kentucky.
Arrangements are being handled by Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
