

David Lee Steele, 80, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family Monday, July 23, 2018 at Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born February 1, 1938 to the late James (Sam) and Ola (Barr) Steele in Circleville, OH. David was a 1956 graduate of Circleville High School. He played the trombone in the Circleville Drum and Bugle Corps and played many years with the Pumpkin Show Band. He worked as a meat cutter for the majority of his career at IGA Cardinal of Circleville and Bay's IGA of Lithopolis. After retirement he became the Pickaway County Dog Warden for a period of 10 years. David was a longtime member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and a current member of Outreach Ministries. He had a passion for farming where he cared for many animals including his beloved horses. David is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Mary (Snyder) Steele; sons, Dana (Debbie) Steele and David (Laurie) Steele; stepchildren, Jack, Pat, and Jill Derr; grandchildren, D.J. (Emily) Steele, Sue Anne Steele, Alyssa Steele and Lainey Bulmer. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue (Wagner) Steele and many beloved aunts and uncles who influenced his love of farming and horses. Family will receive friends Friday, July 27, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home 151 E Main St. Circleville, where a funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm with Dr. Doyne Wiggins officiating. A sunset burial will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, FairHope Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association.
