David H. Stevens, age 71, passed away in his home on August 24, 2018. He was born on February 6 1947 to his parents Harlan and Marie Waites-Stevens in Laurelville, Ohio. David was a graduate of Laurelville High School, and served honorably in the United States Navy. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Science and Chemical Engineering. Using what he learned there, he cultivated an enjoyable career at Dupont as a SP Resin Tech Supervisor. He retired after 35 years of service. David married the love of his life and best friend Judy “Knece” Stevens on July 4, 1976 and they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage together. David supported and cared for his wife during her long battle with cancer, loving her deeply until her passing on December 31, 2016. Family was always the most important part of his life, and he instilled the same value into his children. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Red Man Lodge. He was a man who enjoyed the outdoors and being in tune with the world. He had a huge heart with room for all, including animals. David was also an avid reader, and accomplished reading every hardback book in the Laurelville library before moving on to paperbacks. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Judy Stevens; his daughter Tracy Marie Stevens; and his brothers Gene R. Stevens and Glen E. Stevens.
Left to mourn his passing are his children Ryan D.H. Stevens and Tara Nicole Stevens; his grandson Brandon A.T. Stevens and his sister Helen Fausnaugh.
Honoring David’s wishes, there will be no final viewing or services held. David will be cremated, and arrangements have been entrusted to Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his memory to The Circle Area Humane Society.
