David A. Williams, age 45, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones, on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. David’s battle began early this year, but even as his health faltered David’s appetite for adventure and love for life never waned. For those who knew him well, losing David has left an incomparable void in their lives, but not in their hearts. David had a beautiful, giant personality that was larger than life. He will be remembered for his ability to bring a smile and a laugh to those around him. He was easygoing; the life of the party, and his distinct Kentucky accent was instantly recognizable. David was always there to support his friends whether it was through a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on or a night out on the town. David loved to travel, explore new places and try new things like driving underwater jet skis or getting massages on the beach.
In March David married his partner of 16 years, Flemon (Lee) Frazier. For those who knew them Lee and David were an inseparable couple. Two opposites that found a long lasting love in one another. David loved spending time with Lee and his close friends. As a 5 year employee of Nationwide Insurance, he loved his job there and missed it greatly over the past year. Whether through solving an IT problem or spearheading a Christmas gift drive for children in foster care, David never hesitated to help those in need. Before his battle with cancer ended David had plans to volunteer at the James Medical Center, to give back and share his experiences with others facing similar battles with cancer.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Williams. He is survived by his spouse, Flemon (Lee) Williams, father and stepmother, James Garrel and Mary Williams of Sitka, Kentucky, mother, Alka Hannah of Columbus, son, Brent A. Williams of Flat Gap, Kentucky. David’s loved ones would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Gerald Murphy and the staff of the James Medical Center for the excellent care and solace provided during his time with them. A memorial service will be held at a later date, notification to follow. In lieu of flowers David’s loved ones request that donations be made on David’s behalf to the James Cancer Center.
